Well, we haven’t done a blog in a while so we thought that, while we’re in between major events and crises, that we’d get back on track with these here occasional pearls of wisdom (or argument starters, depending on one’s point of view!).
Our past couple months have found us engaged in two major literary arts events: first was the Second Annual Short Story America Festival held here in Beautiful Beaufort By The Sea, Twenty-Three Miles From Yemassee (local rhyme for the benefit of our non-local friends) at the end of September. This was a celebration of the Short Story, with competitors from across the globe vying for the Short Story Festival victory of winning story. We submitted a short story of our own, which unfortunately didn’t place but we will be publishing to Amazon Kindle shortly (stay tuned for that announcement!). Listening to a couple of the seminars gave us ideas for more short stories, so we are swimming in ideas besides our Task Force series.
With that event behind us, we have coming up next the “Novel” Wine Tasting and Inaugural Literary Festival at September Oaks Vineyards in Ridgeland, S.C. on Saturday, October 26 from 11 a.m. – 6 p.m. We are the co-founders of this event, which showcases over two dozen authors based in or from the South Carolina Lowcountry in the backdrop of the area’s only Vineyard and Winery. The Festival is free to the public, and there will be wine tours / tastings / sales and book sales / signings / readings all day. This has been a true labor of love, and already authors nationwide have been asking for spots for 2014!
Of course, with all this event-ing going on, we’ve run behind on our work with THE LATRODECTUS MURDERS, the third story in the Task Force series, so that has moved to 2014 for publication. There are a couple shorter stories in the Task Force universe on the drawing boards, so with a little continuity correction we should still have new adventures for our readers by the first of the year.
Time to get back to work on our Festival planning… we hope you can come visit us on October 26 for a day of books and wine!
